Saanya (/ˈsɑːn.jə/; born 4 June 2002) is an Indian psychology student, cinephile, competitive Valorant player, and trainee vocalist. She is from Bengaluru, where she has lived her entire life — a fact she is reported to volunteer directly.
Contributors describe her variously. Inishaa offers “unhinged, communist, absolute sweetheart”. Ananya prefers “Little Miss Enchanting”. Esha settles on “Chatpata. Rawr. Oop.” Darsan, with extra vowels, lands on “Cinephile, Gamer, Singaaaaaaaaa”. These accounts are widely held to be individually accurate.
Early lifeedit
Saanya was born on 4 June 2002 in Bengaluru, Karnataka, the daughter of Rajendra and Vasanthi. She has lived in Bangaloreher entire life. Her favourite food, then and now, is “anything her grandmother makes”.
Educationedit
Saanya is a student of psychology at Manipal Hospital, Indiranagar. Her current focus is child psychology, in particular play therapy, on which she is presently understood to be single-minded.
Personal lifeedit
Saanya plays a lot of Valorant, where she mains Omen and Jett. Her flatmate Inishaa calls her “hands down” the best gamer in the house, and “better than she lets on” in general.
She is a serious film enthusiast, well-acquainted with the work of several internationally regarded directors. Even so, her favourite film is Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (2001), a position she will defend. Her favourite anime is Attack on Titan.
In music, Saanya is currently in a sustained Michael Jackson phase. Taylor Swift is a regular fixture in the rotation. She is also taking voice lessons; Darsan reports her singing to be “mad good, it’s not even funny”.
Her housemates consider her exceptionally considerate. Inishaa recalls one night when Saanya came home at midnight and realised she had forgotten her keys; rather than wake Inishaa, who had a 6 a.m. flight, Saanya travelled across Bangaloreto a friend’s house for the spare. Inishaa also describes her, at home, as “a terrible sous chef but a great DJ when you’re cooking”.
Her go-to restaurant is Chung Wah, a Bangalore institution.
Public imageedit
Saanya’s presence is reported to take some getting used to. Ananya needed “a solid semester and a half” before she could make eye contact with her without “glitching”. Saanya is also credited with introducing several turns of phrase into common use within her social circle.
Darsan credits her with the ability to “convince you that life really ain’t that serious” — a tendency widely considered net-positive.
Selected worksedit
Unpublished but widely admired.

- A homemade Jeopardy night, hosted with full commitment to the format. Esha has formally requested a sequel.
- An early departure from the last day of APD with Darsan, leaving at 11:30 in place of the scheduled 3 p.m. In a reversal of usual roles, Saanya was the stressed one and Darsan the calming one.
